IN KONY’S SHADOW: DEO KOMAKECH

This was one of two films I directed, filmed and edited for Christian Aid as part of their wider multimedia project on the legacy of the conflict between the LRA and government of Uganda. You can read more about the making of this film here. A version of this film was published on the Guardian website here.

Twenty-years of conflict between the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) and the Ugandan government left tremendous scars on the lives of ordinary people living northern Uganda. This video follows Deo Komakech as he records testimony among a community whose wartime experience has been largely ignored. Deo is a researcher with the Refugee Law Project (RLP), a human-rights group who document crimes of the past as part of a wider effort to build peace in post-conflict Uganda.

SALOON

I filmed, directed and edited this short film. Saloon was part of the official selection for the London Short Film Festival 2012, the Atlanta Film Festival 2012 and the Florida Film Festival 2012. Saloon was also shortlisted for the 2011 Virgin Media Shorts Competition. You can read more about the making of Saloon here and here.

THE FIGHT FOR $15

This short video profiles two  low-wage workers from Boston and their Fight For $15. Filmed, directed and edited in 2015 for The Guardian. You can read more about this video here.

TAXI TO HAVANA TEASER

This is a short teaser for an 18 minute film I filmed, directed and edited. For sixteen years, Tony Caccavone drove a cab painted in the Cuban flag, picking up Londoners and talking to them about the impact of the blockade on everyday life in Cuba. After 400,000 miles, when the time came to for Tony to retire his beloved taxi, he donated it to Havana’s Motor Museum as a gesture of solidarity with the Cuban people.
