IN KONY’S SHADOW: DEO KOMAKECH FOR CHRISTIAN AID

Twenty-years of conflict between the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) and the Ugandan government left tremendous scars on the lives of ordinary people living northern Uganda. This video follows Deo Komakech as he records testimony among a community whose wartime experience has been largely ignored. Deo is a researcher with the Refugee Law Project (RLP), a human-rights group who document crimes of the past as part of a wider effort to build peace in post-conflict Uganda.

This was one of two films I photographed, directed and edited for international NGO Christian Aid as part of their wider multimedia project on the legacy of the conflict between the LRA and government of Uganda. You can read more about the making of this film here.A version of this film was published on the Guardian website here.
